Hi,
I can think of a lot more things I'd like to have silenced, other than train horns or whistles...

Such as:

*That infernal 11:00 Wednesday siren-screeching that is supposed to warn us all to hustle inside & take cover in case of local (refinery) disasters.

*Those godawful "recycle trucks" with their grinding & gnashing compactors & back-up beeper noise.

*Fire engines & police sirens every 5 minutes...

*Ghetto-blasting car-radios that make our living room floor jump.

You get the idea.

There are a lot more NOXIOUS & health-damaging noises in our daily & nightly milieu than the relatively harmless train sounds we all grew up with and harbor little if any animosity toward.
